Tournaments

Fairbanks hosts a couple hat tournaments a year, one on the last weekend in March and one on the first weekend of June. Read on for more info. For information on other tournaments in the great state of Alaska (and beyond), check out Other Tourneys.

Fairbanks Annual Sombrero (Hat Tournament)

This tournament is the only way to properly ring in the summer ultimate season in Alaska. Fairbanks' premier ultimate tournament, the Sombrero, is held the first weekend of June each year. Make plans to join us for some hot play, unbeatable spirit, and tasty salsa.

The Sombrero format is 6 v 6 with four manly men and two badass women holding down the line. So throw your name in the hat, and join the migration of players from across the great state of Alaska and around the country to come lay it out defensively and offensively. This tourney sees a wide array of players from those who have played in a plethora of Ultimate Tournaments to those whom this will be their first. We encourage you all to come and experience some of the most Spirited play that Alaska Ultimate has to offer. Plan your summer now, and be sure not to miss out! For more information please contact Tournament Coordinator Thom Walker at thomwalker@hotmail.com.

In return for your hard-earned cash, we provide: tournament disc, camping, some food, beverage, and first aid supplies at the fields, as well as the best Sombrero unlimited taco bar on Saturday night to kick off the dance party & festivities. For those of legal age, Silver Gulch Beer will be available at no extra cost. They have been FUeh's longest sponsor and we cannot thank them enough for their continued support of Fairbanks Ultimate. Thanks also to our favorite local spot to grab a burrito, Taco King, for their continued support.

Fairbanks Annual No Sand In The Chena River Spirit Tournament
Annually in March (around the third weekend) the Fairbanks Ultimate Association breaks out of cabin fever for at least one day to play some incredibly spirited Ultimate on the frozen Chena River. The enthusiasm in this one day tournament cannot be matched. Games are played out on the Chena River. It's quite possibly the best single day tournament (outside of any one day beach tournament) that any Ultimate community could organize. Make sure you mark your calendars now. A special thanks to those incredible Ultimate players outside of Fairbanks who make the drive for this event. You know who you are, and an additional thank you for embodying the Spirit of the Game.
